Unfinished home becomes landmark to delay, legal woes

We are told..

The two-story structure dwarfs the surrounding houses in the neighborhood, which lies in the shadow of "A" Mountain.

She said it doesn't fit with the neighborhood and reminds her of a hotel

But look at the photo.

What is that on the other side of the house that we can see through the porch?
A large building?
Looks like nothing in between this house and that building. Behind the house is a hill that must be A mountain.

So why is this a story?
It is in the

Business section, is this some sort of attack on Mr. Herrera  and his business? What business is it of the Arizona daily Star's, does an editor live in this neighborhood?

Is Mr. Herrera a Hispanic business man who only hires American and legal immigrant workers thus earning himself the honor of being a target of the pro illegal alien left?

By empathizing on how long it has taken Mr. Herrera  to build his dream home (*owner built homes are never "done") is some enemy trying to drive him out of business?

Why would someone do that? Does someone hope to buy this luxury home at a great  bottom price once the bad publicity has driven poor Mr. Herrera  bankrupt?

Please note, I'm not accusing anyone of anything, simply asking the questions that come to mind after reading this story.

Why is this a story when it reads like a hit piece in my opinion.

*owner built homes are never "done"
Most owner built homes are moved into by the owner long before it's "done".  As years pass new ideas or needs come up and changes are made, a owner built home is built to one family's needs while those needs change with time as the family changes.

It's not easy running a business and building your own home at the same time,
Mr. Herrera should be commended and praised.
